At The Belair-Edison School, we find a balance between teaching to the standards and teaching to the student. We pay close attention and know our students as individual learners. Teachers are experts in their content areas and instruction engages our early adolescent students while preparing them for high school success. In mathematics, our curriculum ensures that students both understand concepts and can apply skills flexibly and accurately. Algebra I is offered in eighth grade. In our humanities courses, students read broadly and analytically to develop reading, writing, and historical thinking skills. Next Generation Science Standards allow us to implement our science lessons in engaging ways emphasizing modeling and guided practice.
