Homework

Every night for homework, students are asked to read for 30 min and complete a reading response.

Each reading response should be 3-5 sentences OR 5-7 sentences (please choose a fair challenge for your child); 5-7 sentences is preferred.

Reading responses can discuss anyone of the following:

*Connections (text to self, text to text, text to world)

In the story (story title), (describe event). This reminds me of a time when (describe your connection).  (Explain how the connection(s) helps you understand the story or character more).

*Lessons learned from the story

In the story (story title), (describe event & results). This taught me (explain the lesson you learned). I will remember this when (share examples of how can you apply this lesson in school, home, or your community)

*Interesting characters

In the story (story title), there is a character (share character's name & background). This character is (share a decriptive word) because (provide 1-2 pieces of text evidence to support your description of the character). This character can also be described as (share another descriptive word) because (provide 1-2 pieces of text evidence to support your description of the character).
